Keep Up With The New Terms.....

UBER BLOGGING

When I first coined the term Uber Blogging a while back I was referring to a blog that had RSS feeds pumping in content as well as feeds going out, (that people could subscribe to). It was in a sense a jacked up power blog that made full use out of the latest technology. It was more than a blog that simply had posts on it, (after all, thats boring right kids?). Since the term has come out its been floating around and it has been picked up by some UK magazines.

CYBERCASTING
If you are going to be on the radio get a video of it. This extends the life of your media. Because from there you can digitize that footage and throw it up on the web. Now you are on video and the radio simultaneously and people can match a name to a face. Better yet, you become familiar to the public. It is for this reason of combining the Internet along with Radio that I coined the term.... Cybercasting. Now your media has a life of its own.

NEW GOOGLE RULES COMING UP

When I first blurted out the new waves of change I got some angry email.... "WHICH ONE OF YOU IS CANTU !!!????"

Well, look here, its not just me who is talking about change. Google is going to deliver its Universal Search. This is something I wrote about earlier. But what is surprising is that this news comes from nearby Traverse City, (as I write this I am in Walled Lake, MI).

Traverse City, MI (Vocus) July 17, 2007 -- Oneupweb released today
Cashing In on Universal Search: Questions Needing to be Asked, Answers You Need to Know; a white paper providing a comprehensive look at how Google's Universal Search model is likely to impact internet searches and why online marketers need to respond -- and do so fast.

Universal Search differs radically from Google's previous "vertical search" model. A single Universal Search result may include images, videos, blogs, maps and news stories. In the past, these results would require separate searches within Google's vertical directories (Google News, Google Images, Google Blogs, etc.).

Helvetica, sans-serif; TEXT-DECORATION: none" href="http://www.oneupweb.com/" alt="Link to website">This is an excellent example of the type of 'out of the box thinking' and integrated responses marketers will need to be initiating.

"It's a whole new world out there," says Oneupweb CEO Lisa Wehr. "Universal Search will impact search positions, website design, content, and optimization efforts dramatically. Early adopters will have a distinct advantage. I can't stress enough -- the time for marketers to act is now."

Get the whole article here....

Change is already happening all around us. Google is looking for relevant content. This should be a great word of advice for all companies looking to get their fair share of attention.

GETTING POPULAR WITH THE IPHONE AND YOUR MONEY SPENDING PUBLIC

"IS BROADCAST MEDIA DEAD? OR MERELY QUAKING IN ITS BOOTS?"

This last week has been pretty interesting with the coming of the IPHONE. Many entrepreneurs are talking about getting their video clips ready and distributed. They are talking about getting their commercials shot and distributed on the WORLD WIDE WEB using RSS feeds. This is becoming somewhat alarming.

Just in the past week we have had orders coming out of our ears. Everyone wants to get a video clip shot and distributed. This means that YOUR commercial can now cruise along the cyber airwaves and land right into the hands of your buying public.

Here is how you can get REAL SEO to work for your business.....

There is a buzz among some of the traditional media houses as they struggle for some ground. The mid level entrepreneur and medium sized companies are scoffing at the mere idea of having to shell out tens of thousands over to post production houses. They are hiring smaller firms that can handle the work and turning to SEO firms to send out the distribution via RSS feeds.

Its got a lot of people talking....

Turning Down The Volume of Your Sales Pitch

"Stop Selling and Start Telling: Creating Yarn Spinning For Mobile Professionals"

I picked up a copy of an Advertising book over the weekend. The name slips me but it was a formal book on the subject meant for academic students. Inside were all sorts of cardinal corporate sins that make the youthful cringe in their sneakers.... Its THE MAN and its loud and in your face.....

..... most memorable is the beach sand advertisements for Skippy Peanut Butter.

I also came across this interesting tidbit of information....

"Our small company is launching a new product for the travel industry and I'd like to blog to help promote it. However, I thought about focusing the blog on something more interesting and substantial than just the product. As a musician, I considered blogging about outrageous tales and adventures of traveling musicians. The blog would be sponsored by our product, with our logo and ad attached. Would that be effective? "
—S.A., Madison, Miss.

Blogs are emerging as powerful marketing tools, particularly for small businesses. They are relatively inexpensive to start and maintain, and yet can be very effective at bringing potential customers to your Web site and keeping current customers in contact with your company (see BusinessWeek.com, 5/18/06, "The ABC's of Beginning Your Blog").

While our experts give your impulse a thumbs-up, they've got some reservations about your execution: "I think you're correct in looking for something beyond your product to blog about. That said, once you have customers, a blog is a great way to keep your customers updated with news about the product, so you don't necessarily want to avoid the topic," says Rex Hammock, a small-business blogger and publisher based in Nashville.

Teresa Valdez Klein of the Blog Business Summit agrees: "We often recommend lifestyle blogs to our clients. It's often a better idea to blog about the lifestyle that surrounds a product than about the product itself. The editorial draws in a larger audience, and the blog doesn't end up reading like a sales pitch," she says.

This is a very sneaky way to get your message in and it becomes less of a harder sales pitch. It could be the doorway to creating something very memorable. You have to use this tactic with a lot of skill and tenacity but it can be done effectively.

LifeinTheWater10316: SEO - How Bad Links Can Risk Your Rankings

LifeinTheWater10316: SEO - How Bad Links Can Risk Your Rankings: "Having too many bad links on your site can not only lower your sites importance in the page rankings of search engines it can also encourage some search engines like Lycos, Yahoo and Google to permanently remove your site from their search engine ranking pages.

Normally the more links you have on your web page, the more Google and other search engines will love you and try to boost your search engine rankings. Part of most search engine algorithms has been to raise the ranking of a site that has a great deal of link popularity. This is why it is always essential to monitor the people who are linking to you. If their links are broken they will be damaging your site."

Its amazing how many people still continuously get this wrong. You have to be VERY CAREFUL when you link to others. Forget about spamming links like the ever popular link farms. There are a lot of bad things that you can link to, whether you know it or not, that can actually hurt your future rankings. Google looks at these as spam.

This is something that you must be conscious of. Its true that you cannot control who in turn links to you. But there are plenty of things that you can do to avoid potential problems.
